Lee Valley is a stunning Canadian success story with a cult-ish following. It isn't hard to like a company where no executive is paid more than 10 times the wage of the lowest-paid worker. Every year twenty five percent of profits are paid out in equal bonuses to every employee. The owner of the company is bonused the same amount as a warehouse stocker. The motto at Lee Valley is to 'treat customers as friends', and that is exactly what we experienced when we inquired about visiting with a dog.
The employee who consulted with us in a pre-authorization call decided that a dog guest would be fine if kept under control and he didn't disturb other customers. When we visited, I felt a few eyebrows raise, but staff did indeed accommodate us politely, just like good friends. Thanks Lee Valley!
